STANDARDS NIGHT
Standards Night is an event that is usually held for the youth once a year. It can be held on a ward level (congregation) or a stake level (district).
Our Standards Night was last week and was held on a Stake Level. Standards Night is a night of talks and/or programs that reaffirm the standards that we expect our youth to adhere to.
I was very proud that Joel was asked to be on a panel of seven youth to answer questions about how they would handle situations varying from modest dress standards to sexual purity. He did so well and he looked so handsome on the stand. Nice and tall in a suit and tie. My boy.
The night was so enjoyable. The evening began with two young women bearing their testimonies and was followed by speakers that gave AWESOME talks on choosing media that is uplifting (music, TV, movies, reading material, etc.), friendship, and education. At the end the youth all sang to their parents and leaders. I won't lie...I got a little misted.
Usually I have a very hard time sitting still for much more than an hour but the speakers were excellent! Mr. Wresh and I enjoyed every minute!
FOOTBALL SEASON
Ryan’s football season is almost over and I am a little sad.
I will not miss the skeeters biting my feet but I do so love watching my boy! Ryan had a game last night and got two flags (it’s flag football) and a touchdown. Go Baby Go!!!

UPSIDE DOWN CLOWN
Matthew has discovered that he is very comfortable upside down these days.

I find him like this quite often lately and I think it is hilarious.
My poor little one has had a little cold this week and his voice sounds like he has been smoking unfiltered cigarette for 40 years. It is pretty funny. Man I love that kid.
Here is Matty with my visiting teachers Stacy and Lacy.
THE SECRET
I know this is another game that I am totally late to. Have any of ya’ll read this book or seen the movie?
I have been listening to the audio book while I am working on the computer and I am a changed woman! OK not just yet...but I am on my way to being a changed woman!
I am not normally into anything “New Age-y” but this book just makes so much sense to me. So much so that I ordered the movie off of ebay!
This books message is so phenomenal and I really hope each of you will read it. I believe it has the power to make a serious difference in your life!
I know I sound like a goofy zealot but it really is a wonderful message!
If you have read the book you may be interested in this weeks vinyl offering. It is one of the affirmation techniques that the books teaches. Ask, Believe, Receive.

AMANDA ROCKWELL
Dude – I totally met Amanda Rockwell.
Joedee, the owner of Elemental Scraps, lives right around the corner from me and she is friends with Amanda Rockwell. I was talking to Joedee the other day and she said that Amanda was coming to visit (she lives in
Of course I trotted right on over to meet her. I am embarrassed to say that I totally brought my camera and acted like a total stalker weirdo.
I know it may seem strange to some people (like my husband) but I get totally star struck by digi designers that I admire and Amanda is certainly one of them!
Just so you know she is TOTALLY gorgeous and super nice!
DID I MENTION MY KIDS ARE GENIUS’S?
Cause they are.
Last week Ryan had his first spelling test (30 words in 1st grade….whoa) and he got 100% on his test! He also got 100% on his phonogram test! Smarty Pants.
While I am bragging on my little Wreshling’s I must also mention that Joel got 100% on his math test in Algebra II. Braniac.
As far as Matty goes I am assuming he is brilliant too. I will tell you that the other day when the little boys were playing Ryan called out,
“Moooooom…Matty is trying to be an evil genius.”
They kill me.
PUMPKIN PRALINE MUFFINS
My husbands employees came in to do some voluntary overtime this weekend so I wanted to make them some treats to thank them. They turned out so yummy and I thought I would share the recipe with you.
Pecan Topping (I doubled this part)
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup pecans
1 tablespoon butter
Batter
1 2/3 cups packed brown sugar
2/3 cup oil
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 large eggs
one 15 ounce can of pumpkin (not pie filling)
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 ½ teaspoons pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon
¾ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
Preheat the oven to 350 and line muffin tins with muffin liners.
Make the pecan topping by combining all three ingredients until crumbly and set aside.
Make the batter. Combine the sugar, oil, vanilla, eggs, and pumpkin. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Fill each liner about 3/4th of the way full.
Sprinkle the pecan topping on top of each muffin and bake for about 20 minutes.
I started checking mine at about 18 minutes with a knife to see if it came out clean until they were done.
The spices made the house smell good and the smell of pumpkin in the house this time of year is always so nice.
THANKSGIVING
I am so excited. We are heading to Gardnerville,
SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY
Surfing the web last week I saw a picture of someone’s pantry that was a hot mess and it actually made my chest a little tight.
My sister makes fun of what she calls my “Sleeping with the Enemy” Pantry and cupboards. You would have to have seen the movie to understand why that is funny in a demented sort of way.
Ya’ll know I am an touch OCD but it is just about the weirdest things. Don’t come to my house and think there won’t be dust bunnies or anything…cause folks…there are…but there are certain things that must be certain ways for me (yeah I know – control issues – blah blah blah) and my pantry is one of those things. I know…I need help. If my husband wants to drive me straight up a wall he can just go into the pantry and start turning things so that they are not face forward. Arrrgghh!!!!

PAJAMA POTLUCK CONFERENCE WEEKEND
Next weekend there won’t be any church because it is General Conference Weekend.
General Conference is twice a year. It is held the first weekend in April and the first weekend in October.
A few years ago when I was The Young Woman’s President my Secretary Becca (her blog link is over on the right) and I took the girls to Conference and we had the best time. Here are just a few of the pictures of our trip. This was in October of 2004.

A picture of the Salt Lake City Temple taken from observation deck of the Church Offices Building.
After my grandfather was baptized my grandparents and my mother and her older sister (three more children came later) were sealed in this temple by Spencer W. Kimball.
The Young Women and I at the Church's Art and History Museum in front of a statue of Moroni...it was huge!

Sitting in the Conference Center before the Session Started on Sunday. We were there when Elders Dieter F. Uchtdorf and David A. Bednar were sustained as new apostles. Isn't that neat? It was so wonderful when President Hinckley came out and waved his cane at all of us!

After the morning session on Saturday with the Young Women

Outside the Conference Center before the Saturday Session.
Conference is Saturday and Sunday. Both days there are two sessions. On Saturday Joel is going to a Youth Conference Party. One of the Young Women is having a bunch of kids over to her house to watch both sessions on Saturday.
On Sunday we are having a Pajama Potluck between sessions (from 11:15 – 12:45) and it is a “come as you are” party!
One of the nice parts of watching conference at home is not having to get dressed up…you can watch it in your pajama’s!
We invited three of the families that live in our neighborhood, The Greer’s, The Koozer’s, and The Fuller’s. Between our family and all of our friends we will have 24 people here for brunch!
I am making a big batch of breakfast quiche casserole, and my neighbors are bringing fruit, biscuits, and orange juice.
Joel is going to be in charge of making a quiz up based on questions created from the morning session of conference and the families will compete against each other to answer the questions and win fabulous prizes!!!
We used to have Sunday lunches all the time and it fostered wonderful relationships. Now that our ward has split so many times I am excited to start this tradition again!
President Monson. One of my favorite things about President Monson is his great love of the written word, poetry especially, and how he often incorporates it into his messages.
CHRISTMAS QUILTS
I have officially started my Christmas Crafting. Some of the gifts we will be giving this year are tied Christmas Quilts. I purchased the materials last week and started cutting all the lengths this weekend. I love this time of year!!!
You can see a little tutorial on how to make a tied quilt here.

I'm a little confused, do you have kids and grandkids or just the 3 boys? You and they look far too younbg to have grandkids, don't know why I thought you had grand kids. Or are the 3 boys in your photo your grand kids?
