And....I am spent....

This week seems like it has been so busy!

...but I guess I probably say that in every post!

THIS WEEK WAS ALL ABOUT JOEL!
This week has been all about Joel. He started his second session of golf clinics for the summer so that keeps him busy a few mornings a week.

This week was also his birthday! I cannot believe that Joel is 15. Holy crap. 15 is so...well...old.

As much as I hate that he is getting older I am actually a little excited for him to be 16...SO HE CAN DRIVE.

Dude...when that kid can drive I will never have to "run to the store" again! I hate those little trips. A newly driving teen is alway anxious to drive somewhere and can usually be counted on to happily go and fetch whatever is needed at the market!

Then he just needs to stay 16 for a very long time.

We did lots of celebrating. The following are some pictures.

AT THE MALL
Joel's birthday was Wednesday but we decided to celebrate it on Thursday as Wednesday night is mutual (church activities).

On Thursday I picked up three of Joel's friends (Dallin, Hillary, and Stacy) and we all headed to the mall. Joel wanted to take his friends out to eat and to a movie for his birthday.

Here they are at the mall:

And here they are promptly ditching me and the little boys:

When we all met up again Joel was all confused because the girls didn't eat anything but chips and salsa for lunch.

I tried to explain to Joel that many teen girls will not eat in front of boys, especially ones they might like, and not to worry. They do in fact eat!

MAMA AND THE BOYS AT THE MALL
While the big kids went to the movies and lunch. My little guys are easy to feed...they always want "Chickens and henchfries with a toy" which is a Chicken Nugget Happy Meal!

After we had lunch we headed to the new Lego store in the mall. The lighting was a little weird for a picture but this life size Indiana Jones was pretty cool!

We played in the kids play area too! This is Ryan climbing a little too high!

When I just could not take it anymore we waited for the big kids to be done in the atrium area by the exit where my children behaved like monkeys. The lighting was cool so I tried to get some pictures but the little turds refused to cooperate. This is the best I could get...

Oh well!

THE PARTAY!
Thursday night we had a whole bunch of Joels friends over for cake, ice cream, snacks, and games.

The kids were so nice and polite! I tried to keep the little ones upstairs with me but they were having none of it. All of Joel's friends were especially kind and patient with the little ones.

Eventually I got them to bed. Mr. Wresh came home and partied like a rock star for a little bit but then headed upstairs with me and the little boys.

It is nice to know Joel has such nice friends!

Singing Happy Birthday

Mr. Wresh reluctantly heading upstairs...he loves a captive audience!

CAPTAIN WHO?
This morning I was laying on my bed tickling Ryan and wrestling around. Matthew decided he wanted to get in on some of the fun and came running at us with his thumb still securely in his mouth.

As he dived onto us I yelled, "LOOK! It's Captain Thumb Sucker!"

Without missing a beat Ryan said, "OK, then I will be Captain Boobie Sucker!"

I might have breast fed him too long.

NO NAME CALLING
I have been wanting to do a scrapbook about my relationship with Mr. Wresh. As ideas come to me I try to make note of them.

Today I was thinking about a quirky habit that we have of NEVER calling each other by name. We always use a term of endearment. Mr. Wresh almost always calls me "Honey" while I like to shake it up a little and use "Baby, Sweetie, Sugar, Honey"...etc.

You get the idea.

If we are ever mad and call each other by our first names it is a clear sign that someone is upset.

So it got me thinking...do any of ya'll have funny little couple things? I want to hear about them!

SOME YUMMY RECIPES TO TRY
I have not blogged any recipes lately...here are a few I have been using lately.

Honey Bars
Honey Bars
I found this one web surfing but I don't remember where. They were an instant hit with all the Wresh Men Folk.

3/4 cup oil
1/4 cup honey
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Mix oil, honey, sugar, and egg.
Add dry ingredients and mix well.
It will be a thick batter.
Press the batter into a greased jelly roll pan (or casserole pan if you want them thicker) and bake for 15-18 minutes. A little longer if you make them thicker. Look for the edges to turn a little more golden than the rest and they are done.

Icing for Honey Bars
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
a few drops of milk (enough for a consistency you like)

Mix all the ingredients together and then pour over the bars immediately after they come out of the oven. Let them cool before cutting. Good stuff.

Honey Bars...yummy goodness...

MAMA WRESH MINI PIZZA
Last week I was making homemade pizza's for dinner with those Bobolli (sp?) pizza crusts you can get at the market. I made meat and cheese pizzas for all the men folk and then I made a yummy little pizza just for me on one of the mini crusts. I didn't take a picture but here is what I did.

Bobolli Pizza Crust
Tiny bit of pizza sauce
Fresh Basil washed and ripped up
Roma Tomatoes cut in circles
Mushrooms washed and cut into thick slices
Handful of mozzarella cheese
Some shaved Parm if ya got it!

I spread just a tiny bit of pizza sauce on the crust and then covered it with ripped basil leaves.
Next put on the tomatoes and mushrooms and then cover with mozzarella and bake for 10-15 minutes.
When it came out I put a few shavings of parm on it...waaaaay good!

A BLOG TREAT
Well, I know...you are super impressed that I blogged twice in one week! Here's a little something for stopping by. Have a great weekend!

OK - I think that is it...have a great weekend!!!

"I might have breast fed him too long."

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! I laughed out loud!

Weird couple things...My husband and I have two beds in one room. I am an incredibly light and restless sleeper. He's has been known to smack me in the night. And we both like to wrap up tight in the blanket. It's better for all of us if we sleep in separate beds. =)

Your family is awesome! I love to read all about the funny things those little guys say.
I just gotta say, You are the bomb with the templates!
I am 2 years into my 2nd marriage (for both of us) and I can't think of any funny little couple things we do. This could be a bad sign. LOL! Although, he is pretty funny and likes to tell folks that ask how long we've known each other that we just met in the parking lot and then asks me, "what's you name again?"

Sometimes I wonder if I nursed a tad too long as well. DS has told me often, "Oh mommy, I like those boobies!" LOL. And yes, DH and I rarely call each other by our first names. And we always hold hands in the car. Happy Birthday, Joel!!

Thanks for the great template. I love your stories about your family! My husband and I call each other "Bug". It started as Honey, then Honeydoodle, then Doodlebug, and now just Bug. Sometimes Doodles, but mostly just Bug. We are all a little strange. :)

I LOVE YOUR TEMPLATES!!! I have a question, because I could not find your TOU. Do you allow commercial use on your templates? I am wanting to use them to make quickpages for my new kit.

Look forward to hearing from you!!
